Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars

If you are a serious cigar smoker or collector, one book you must have is Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars.  It is updated annually and contains great information on just about every cigar ever made.  Each entry lists all its sizes, tobaccos, and a brief description of the brands history. But the best version of this book is its iPhone app.  Not only is it convenient, but it allows the user to make notes on each cigar listing.  This is a great place to jot down not only tasting notes, but also where the cigars were purchased.  In doing so we can be reminded of where we bought our last box.  A very useful bit of information when it comes time to reorder.  And it’s only $3.99.

Additional note: Mr. Perelman has confirmed that the 2011 edition of his Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars will be its last issue.  He has sold his website CigarCyclopedia.com to CoronaCigar.com and considers his involvement in these endeavors as “past history”.

I have a 1998 Perelmans and a 2008 copy, it’s amazing the difference between the two. No doubt that this is a valuable resource that everyone should own.

I have had a number of these little gems, and each one has information that is invaluable to both the aficionado and the occasional cigar smoker. I love that it gives rich detail on the cigar as to where it is made, and point of origin of the tobacco that is used. Including length, ring sizes and wrapper types, I find it a great resource, and keep it handy at all times. If you are interested in Cuban cigars, there is a completely separate edition that covers those as well. Enjoy!
