La Mia Corona – tasting notes.

La Mia Corona

Mike 89 – took just under one hour.  Very nicely constructed smoke with a pig tail cap.  A solid smoke and one I will seek out again.

Will 90 – This little corona was densely packed and the wrapper appears to be Connecticut, almost blond but the dry foot says no, lots of pepper and mesquite. Upon ignition I get a metallic tang that reminds me of Cuban tobacco. After a few puffs the pepper and wood continue and that metallic tang segues to orange peel.  I am really enjoying this smoke and want to smoke it in a larger vitola. I tend to smoke fast and this petite corona starts to heat up so I set it down for 5 minutes. When I pick it up I need no flame, it is still lit and it still tastes great. My only real complaint is the flaky ash. My favorite of the group by far.

Rob 87 – Very nice appearance; tight visible seams, mottled chocolate brown oily wrapper.  Very mild earthy pre-light aroma.  Triple capped.  Burn is razor sharp with solid bright white ash.  Lots of flavor throughout the smoke: primarily tobacco.  Nothing specific or fancy.

Paul 93 – Mottled medium brown wrapper with medium veins, rich tobacco aroma with some spice.  Excellent cold draw with a little bitterness on the lips.  First 1/3:  great amount of smoke, pepper on the retrohale, stone fruit, some cocoa, scalloped burn, medium strength.  Second 1/3: stoned fruit, sweetness and tartness alternate, pepper appears intermittently, very long finish, burn corrected itself.  Last 1/3: smoke is thinner, toned down flavors,  shorter finish, pepper returns on the retrohale.  Overall an excellent smoke, good complexity and unique flavors.

Artie 99 – This little corona has a wonderful perfume-like aroma before lighting. Its diminutive size and small pigtail makes for a nice presentation. I generally enjoy small cigars…let’s see if this one is rewarding. Upon lighting I get loads of rich smoke with little effort. The draw is lush. Right away my palate is bathed with spicy rich tobacco goodness. Complex floral flavors are strong, with an aroma that’s almost like incense. As it burns I can appreciate the craftsmanship of the torcedor. A cylindrical ash forms as the burn is perfect. As I approach the middle, I am impressed by all aspects of this wonderful little stick. The flavors start to meld together, and it retains a wonderful lavender quality. This is flavor that only a small cigar can deliver. I am also struck by its strength. With its small girth, I can taste the ligero distinctly while its wrapper gives a wonderful heady aroma. At the nub, this little cigar continues to deliver tons of flavor and smoke. It’s an amazing cigar and as anticipated, it was an outstanding smoking experience.

Jim 90 – For a small cigar, its got a lot of punch on the first couple draws.  A ton of spice at first, but as it heats up it mellows out and gets more balanced. It is not burning even so I had to even it out early.  Ash is very flakey, feathering and drops off easily.  Despite that, I’m really enjoying it.  About an inch in this cigar totally transitioned.  I’m tasting coffee and cocoa and the spice is less up front and now more on the finish.  Well balanced now. Strength wise is between a medium and full.  My only disappointment is that I wish it was a longer cigar. I am enjoying it, it ended too soon and I want more.
