Okay, your bags are packed and the cigars are carefully selected for the trip. But what about your favorite torch lighter? That’s important. You don’t want to burn your thumb trying to light a double corona with a Bic! That’s just out of the question. Well, rather than compromise your smoking experience while on the road, there is actually a legal way to get your torch lighter on the plane.
Made by Colibri, the Tranzpack is an inexpensive flight-case for your lighter. According to Colibri it is DOT approved for checked baggage within the United States, and can transport lighters containing fuel. Having used the Tranzpack successfully on many occasions, I can highly recommend it. After all, our favorite lighters are part of the ritual of smoking cigars. And now, being without a good torch is no longer an issue.

I travel across the country a bit and all I’ve ever done is toss the lighter in with the socks. (not in the socks just in the smaller compartment with them) and I have always been able to celebrate a successful flight with a cigar lit with my torch lighter. I never knew they could take it from the checked bag. Never knew my small cigar lighter could take down a commercial jet either. Thanks, now I can add that fear to my flying list.
I can personally attest that the gestapo known as the TSA will confiscate your $50 lighter if they find it in your bag. They took mine and didn’t even let me know that they had. I discovered that it was gone and had to call the TSA and go through alot of red tape to find out that it was actually taken by them and not just stolen.
