When I first started smoking cigars, I had read that keeping a long ash was the thing to do. Now, many years later, I’ve decided that a good cigar tastes good regardless of how long I keep its ash. Plus, a long ash makes touch-ups more difficult. What about you? Are you an ash man? Is there something to the long ash theory? Your comments are welcome. Thanks.
Are you an “ash man”?

Yes I read same thing when first smoking and figured it was a sign of a well made cigar. Now years later I’ve decided that I like having about an inch of ash to insulate the cigar and keep it burning good but usually ash around there so I don’t wear it when it finally falls.
No I am not. I will let the ash accumulate at the beginning of the stick, but will tamp it off (hopefully) before it falls. I have a friend, who loves to let his ash get as long as possible at the start of the smoke (got him a t shirt that states on the back “Nice Ash.” Inevitably, the ash will fall into his lap and make a mess of his clothing. I just assume pass…………
That’s why we need smoking jackets!
I have that same shirt and this other one that states ” Rolled on the thighs of virgins” W/ pic of cigar
Yes I’m Ash Man too, Who doesn’t like looking @ a ” Nice Ash” ? I smoked a NUB maduro all the way without dropping/loosing the ash one fine summers day on my deck.
