Strong cigars present a dilemma. On one hand they can provide intense flavor and complexity, the likes of which no mild cigar could match. On the other hand, an exceptionally strong cigar can be a challenge to smoke, even for a cigar aficionado. I’ve smoked my fair share of strong cigars, and have a high tolerance for elevated nicotine levels. But one cigar that quickly pushes me over the edge is the Viaje Skull and Bones WMD. In the article A Boutique’s Boutique, I mention this little stick of dynamite. It’s a cigar whose memory is forever imbedded in my brain (see Cigar Memory). As its name implies, the WMD is dangerously strong. And here’s the dilemma; how can I fully enjoy a cigar with tremendous flavor, if its power makes it unapproachable?
The Skull and Bones WMD is only 3.75″ long, and short for a good reason. It reaches its “satisfaction point” very quickly. Personally, I can only smoke it one half an inch at a time. It’s so smooth and rich that it’s easy to smoke quickly, and there’s the danger. This cigar can make you feel drunk before you know it. But it’s just so delicious that it can’t be resisted. With tons of rich smoke, intense tobacco flavor, and tones of chocolate, pepper, and molasses, the WMD is an opulent smoking experience. The trick is to respect its strength, and smoke gently. There’s no shame in putting a cigar down, cooling off, and then resuming. With the WMD, it is the only way I can enjoy this extraordinary cigar.
The Skull and Bones WMD is an adventure to smoke, and as such, I would recommend it to any seasoned cigar smoker. Not as an everyday cigar, but more as a novelty. It is so extraordinarily strong, and flavorful, that it’s an experience all cigar smokers should have, even if it’s just one time. The WMD makes a lasting impression; as much as any cigar I’ve smoked. It’s almost as if the cigar has charisma. With qualities like that of a great prize fighter, its strength and character pulls you in.
In the battle for cigar strength, there are many contenders. But in this arena, the Skull and Bones WMD could be the undisputed heavyweight champion of them all.

I dislike this fad of giving cigars stupid names. “my Uzi weighs a ton, hammer and sickle, bait fish, the gager etc. to me it suggests dumb names for inelegant cigars. I have to admit I am in my 50’s and nd clearly not the target market for these hip hop smokes.
BK, it’s called marketing and you are correct, they clearly are not targeting the over 40 group. The way I look at it, I’ll smoke anything once. If it tastes good and doesn’t rival a mortgage payment I will keep on smoking it. Who cares what they name it.
